Animal Handling Series - Horse Handling and Colt Starting Course

UT Extension, UT AgResearch, TSU Extension, and Lost Creek Cattle Company are excited to offer the Animal Handling Series; Horse Handling and Colt Starting Course. This program will provide training to develop and enhance evidence-based equine handling, selection, evaluation and management information for attendees. During the 3-day course, topics including animal handling and safety, equine evaluation, farm economics, nutrition, health, and selection/use will be covered. Information to be presented is applicable to beginning and experienced equine owners and business operators, and relevant to horses of all ages/training levels.

Attendees of all ages (youth and adult) are welcome. Individual date registration is offered along with a 3-day bundle option. Pre-registration is encouraged and offered at a reduced rate until May 31, 2019, but on-site registration is also available.

Veteran and beginning farmers may be eligible for a scholarship for this program. Contact Jenni Goodrich at jgoodrich@utk.edu or (423) 346-3000 for more information and the scholarship application.

All classes will be held in the Brehm Animal Science Arena on the UTIA Campus in Knoxville, Tennessee.
