Awards for Two in Institutional Advancement

The National Agricultural Alumni and Development Association presented Robin Haefs, administrative assistant in the UT Institute of Agriculture Office of Institutional Advancement, with its Frontline Award. The award honors initiative, teamwork, and skill in working effectively with the public and, more specifically, alumni, friends, donors, and supporters.

Haefs serves as a key liaison to the UT Foundation Inc., as well as assists four advancement officers in their duties. As part of her daily responsibilities, Haefs helps ensure all gifts are deposited, donor and alumni reports are generated, and interacts with all areas of UTIA and the UT Foundation.

Angelia Nystrom, director of specialty programs for UTIA’s Advancement Office, has been recognized with the UT Foundation Inc.’s Board of Directors Award. In addition to her role in UTIA overseeing planned giving, real estate giving, corporate relations, and Foundation affairs, Nystrom serves as in-house counsel for the UT Foundation. Since her arrival at UTIA, our philanthropic opportunities in each of these areas has increased exponentially. In addition, Nystrom is routinely sought out by UTIA faculty and staff across the state to deliver seminars on giving to community groups, which provide excellent platforms for all of Institutional Advancement’s officers with the prospects who attend.

“What a distinct honor to have two well-deserving team members receive such prestigious awards!” says Keith Barber, vice chancellor of Institutional Advancement. “Robin has intricate knowledge of all back-office services while comprehending exactly what’s needed by our officers—making the entire team better. Angelia’s poise, professionalism, and complete understanding of the donor relationship advances UTIA every day. While both would be the first to say their awards are team-centered, we recognize that each has huge impacts on the success we have for the Institute. We are proud of both of them!”

Through the Office of Institutional Advancement, UTIA partners with the UT Foundation Inc. to enrich the lives of the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the University of Tennessee through alumni engagement, financial stewardship, and private gift support. Team members coordinate activities and opportunities to engage with the entire Ag Family. With office locations in Knoxville, Spring Hill, and Jackson, the team mirrors the footprint of the Institute to best assist UTIA’s constituents. See the unit’s members here.
