Overview

Agritourism Ideas to Action is a compilation of resources for farmers interested in developing agritourism operations and farmers already conducting agritourism activities. Resources have been developed or discovered for many aspects of analyzing, developing and growing agritourism operations.

Click on any topic in the list on the left hand side of any of the Agritourism Ideas to Action pages to access resources on that topic. New materials will be added periodically. Join our news list to receive emails when new items are added and other agritourism news by sending a request to cpa@utk.edu.

If you have any problems with the site or want to recommend additional resources to be listed, please email Megan Bruch Leffew at mleffew@utk.edu.

History

Many of the materials provided in Agritourism Ideas to Action have been developed by the Center for Profitable Agriculture staff and partners, some of which have been adapted and updated from the publication released in 2005 called Agritourism in Focus. A Southern Risk Management Education Grant provided through the Southern Risk Management Education Center and United States Department of Agriculture provided us with an opportunity to update and improve the content of the Agritourism in Focus publication.

As we were preparing to update the publication, we realized some components of the 10 chapter publication would likely need updating more often than others and many other resources existed to complement the content of the publication. We also realized there were many complementary resources from our Center and from other sources that would likely benefit our audience. In an attempt to provide the most up to date information possible, develop new materials as needed over time and connect users to other existing resources, we decided to create several smaller, topic focused publications and create a Web-based platform to share all known available resources with our clients. We hope this site and these materials are useful to you.
