Reflections on the Holidays
The holiday season is a time for family, celebration, and reflection. For students, it is a time to catch a breath after a rigorous fall semester and reconnect with all the comforts of home.
We all have a tendency to become preoccupied with gift-giving, traditions, and feasting. However, holidays can also be a wonderful time to appreciate blessings. As a dean, I celebrate the fact that the mission of the College will never be unnecessary or redundant. It is our sacred mission to educate those who will tackle the challenges of feeding the world and safeguarding our environment.
I appreciate all the hardworking and talented faculty and staff who dedicate so much of themselves to educating, mentoring, and guiding our students. I appreciate the University of Tennessee for providing such an excellent environment for learning and a culture that values its members.
Students, I appreciate how you continue to represent the College in the best way possible by being such incredible people. Alumni, my message to you is how happy I am with how you carry the lessons learned here in the productive and generous way that you live your lives, which benefits so many others.
Yes, the holiday season is a wonderful time to pause and take stock of so many things. This reflection is truly the best gift ever, and I invite you to join me in it!
