A Very Special Season in a Very Special Year
Holiday Greetings for the first time from the Herbert College of Agriculture! We began this academic year with a new name thanks to the generous support of UT alumni Jim and Judi Herbert. Their gift will enable us to do so much more for our students and the College. For that, I enter this holiday season with a renewed and deeper sense of gratitude, optimism, and anticipation for the new year ahead.
For me, the holiday season brings to mind food, family, fun, and giving. These are all reflected in the College, as well. The many fields of agriculture we represent contribute to the food on our table. For our students, family is not just found at home. The family atmosphere on our campus is one of the qualities we most cherish. Just as we give gifts to those we hold dear, the contributions and support of our friends and alumni not only vitally assist our students, they are the bedrock for the College’s future success. When we conducted our five-year review in October, our peers confirmed what we already know. We are on track and flourishing. The dedication, passion, and enthusiasm so many of you have for the College and our family are key to this. They are also why I am full of excitement for what 2019 will bring.
