Enjoys working with the Dean's Scholars, Herbert Ambassadors and other student organizations and helping students, staff, and faculty whenever the opportunity arises. Represents the College on various campus and UT system committees and is actively engaged in expanding the College's borders to provide international recognition and opportunities for our students, staff, and faculty.

Interprets and relays information to undergraduate coordinators, faculty advisors and appropriate parties relative to University policy and general best advising practices. Reviews and makes decisions on routine petition requests. Serving as the College representative on advising-related University and college committees and task forces such as the Academic Advising Leadership Group, the Advising Committee and the Herbert Undergraduate Council. Works closely with recruiting, retention and Herbert career staff.

Promotes student development by supporting the 30+ student organizations within Herbert; plans and coordinates special events, including social and networking events, seminars, and service learning trips that promote retention and enhance students' connection to the college; manages the Herbert Living Learning Community and teaches AGRN103; serves as advisor for MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences); leads minority student recruitment initiatives, while supporting graduate student recruitment efforts; and collaborates with faculty and staff to enhance student life, academic performance, and retention of minority Herbert students, while creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive environment for all students.

Serves as a member of both Herbert dean’s office and the Animal Science department, providing comprehensive academic advising to undergraduate students in ANSC, and promoting academic advising as an essential tool for holistic student success. Advises students on appropriate courses for completion of the academic requirements for the Animal Science major, supports students’ transition to college life, teaches students about academic and career opportunities, and fosters students’ intellectual and personal development toward academic success.

Colleen fosters the holistic success of Herbert students majoring in Forestry or Wildlife and Fisheries Science. This includes advising students on appropriate courses for completion of academic requirements for FWF majors, supporting students' transitions to college life, teaching students about academic and career opportunities in FWF, advising on expectations and strategies for success beyond UT, and advising on Herbert and university general education requirements.
