The University of Melbourne is a large (49,000 students) multi-campus university, one of the best universities in Australia and also well regarded internationally. The Parkville campus is the main campus (over 40,000 students) and located in a suburb of Melbourne, consistently voted one of the top cities (4 million people) in the world. The university is very multicultural and 24% of the student body is international from over 120 countries. In 2011 the campus had 1,100 study abroad or exchange students. Study abroad at the University of Melbourne is available to UTK students through “Globalinks Learning Abroad”


Housing & Other Student Services:  

The university offers a full range of services for incoming study abroad students. These include several options for housing, and it is suggested that students apply early to retain the best option for them regarding housing.



Melbourne School of Land and Environment has undergraduate courses in the following disciplines related to CASNR majors: Agriculture, Animals, Food Science, Horticulture and Landscapes.

Academic courses can be found in the UM Handbook.  In the “Browse by Study Area”, click on the “Agriculture, animal studies, food science and veterinary science” for courses on agriculture and associated topics.  Be sure to click on the “Display all …” link at the bottom of the first (Document Code) column to bring up all courses.  Additional study areas that may be pertinent to some CASNR majors include “Environment and Natural Resources” and possibly “Sciences and mathematics” and “Architecture, building and planning (landscape architecture)


Academics:  UM Faculty of Veterinary Science.  The UM Veterinary Hospital is located at the Werribee Campus, which is outside of Melbourne some 20-30 kilometers.  They have an excellent reputation and are accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association among other international associations.
