From the Senior Vice President
and Senior Vice Chancellor
May 1, 2020 Update
As I've said many times recently, it seems that planning for a return to our workplace is a much more difficult task than it was transitioning to remote work. I am very grateful to our UTIA Corona Virus Task Force members led by Dr. Marcy Souza, who have worked tirelessly to recommend the safest procedures possible based on CDC guidance. As we move into the first phase of re-entering our workplaces, following the Governor's Return to Work Safely Executive Order, it is important to note that the information for our various units has some similarities and differences. Depending on where you work, please review the re-entering workplace guidelines listed below:
Knoxville campus-based faculty and staff (will follow UT Knoxville guidelines)
AgResearch off-campus faculty and staff
Extension off-campus faculty and staff
CVM faculty and staff (refer to internal email from the dean)
No doubt that questions will arise during this transition phase. Please stay in touch with your supervisor who can provide guidance or seek the appropriate information. We encourage everyone who can work remotely continue to do so. If your job requires that you return to the workplace, we expect you will practice safety measures such as handwashing, using face masks, social distancing, and participating in meetings with no more than 10 individuals.
Mostly, remember that this continues to be an ever-changing situation, and guidelines will have to be readjusted as we enter this new phase. I am so appreciative of the dedication, teamwork, and positive attitudes you have shown through all of this. I hope you will enjoy this new video just released that highlights what it means to be a part of the UTIA family.
Have a great weekend,
