UTIA

From the Senior Vice President
and Senior Vice Chancellor

June 26, 2020

We have made a few changes to the UTIA COVID-19 guidelines. The most significant changes concern travel. Work-related out-of-state travel will require advance approval and should be essential only. International travel is still restricted until September 30, 2020, and if critical to our mission, requires an exception by senior leadership. Personal travel out-of-state is not restricted; however, you must discuss the circumstances of out-of-state travel (both personal and work-related) with your supervisor to determine the necessary steps to return to the workplace after your travel is completed.

The other change is that meetings organized by UTIA with up to fifty participants are now permitted as long as safety practices outlined by the CDC are followed. For more details on these changes, please visit the coronavirus website.

It was most inspiring to spend today's Fireside Chat highlighting the incredible work of our organization over these past months. The pandemic has necessitated a number of new, unanticipated projects and responses on the part of our faculty, staff, and students. Today we celebrated these efforts, and showcased a few examples of how we've gone "above and beyond" to serve the citizens of Tennessee and to support one another.

While we could not get to every one of our success stories, please know they are all recognized and appreciated by our leadership team. On stressful days—and there have been many—reviewing these success stories has helped me put what seem like impossible challenges in perspective, and I am most grateful to all of you.

While we will not be holding a Fireside Chat on July 3 due to the holiday, I look forward to chatting with you later in the month.

Have a nice weekend,
Tim
