The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture seeks to serve our state and beyond through the land-grant mission of educating, discovering and connecting its constituents. The UTIA Office of Institutional Advancement works with alumni and friends to advance these objectives by coordinating volunteer and philanthropic initiatives. We serve by serving.

Recent philanthropic highlights include the following:

  • The McIlwaine Friendship Outdoor Classroom and Pavilion will be the first outdoor classroom space on the Knoxville campus thanks to donations from the McIlwaine family and Friends of the UT Garden. Construction will begin this spring in the UT Gardens. (Extension, Research)
  • The Petsmart Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinic will provide spay/neuter surgeries for unowned animals in 29 counties. Donations to purchase the mobile unit and truck means that more unowned animals will be eligible for adoption. (UTCVM)
  • A one-million dollar state match means that the Institute can move forward on a priority capital project. The Energy/Environmental Science Education Research Center will provide premiere facilities for research and education. (UTIA)
  • The UT College of Veterinary Medicine was able to award over $230,000 in scholarships this academic year thanks to generous donations.
