As 2015 gets underway, we are excited to launch a new look and brand promise for UTIA. This new visual identity is designed to better reflect the Institute and its family of units—UT Extension, UT AgResearch, the UT College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, and the UT College of Veterinary Medicine—along with our many departments and programs.

Why is this important? Branding is the most efficient way to show existing and potential stakeholders what our organization is all about. It’s reflected visually via the logo and design elements as well as through verbiage in marketing materials, our new slogan, and informational copy.

Over the years, the logos for UTIA and its units became very fragmented, with no cohesive look. We have so many great stories to tell and information to impart, but when we presented ourselves to the public it was sometimes hard to tell that we were part of something bigger and more meaningful.

This new modern and fresh look has been in the works for almost a year, all created internally by the UTIA Marketing and Communications team. The visual identity ties together our family of brands and associates them with UTIA. This will allow us to have a common bond and to show how we are collectively making impacts across the state of Tennessee and beyond.

To make it easier for our UTIA family to access the new logos, we have created a new marketing site that will house a toolkit with branding guidelines, downloadable logos, and other branded resources. This will be a dynamic site and we will add to it continuously. The toolkit will be accessible on the UTIA internal site beginning January 22. Just click on the Marketing and Communications team link.

A special unveiling of UTIA’s new branding will take place in Knoxville at Hollingsworth Auditorium on January 22 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a presentation at 1:45 p.m. For those who cannot attend, more information will be available as we add to our toolkit. You will be able to access the new logos and toolkit on January 22.

Please help us in incorporating our new brand across the state. We need your help in making this a smooth and effective transition. This means using the new logos on your materials and letting us know of areas we may have missed in which the new branding should be applied. Should you have any questions, please contact UTIA Marketing and Communications at 865-974-7141.
