MANCHESTER, Tenn. Organizers of a new educational opportunity for beef producers interested in directly marketing products to consumers, restaurants and retail outlets have announced that the 2014 Tennessee Value-Added Beef Conference will be held in Manchester on March 18 and 19.

“The conference will offer a variety of sessions addressing production, marketing, regulatory and cost considerations,” said Rob Holland, director of University of Tennessee Extension Center for Profitable Agriculture.  “This is a new conference geared toward the needs of producers
interested in direct marketing of beef and locally raised beef products,” he said.

Arrangements for individual speakers and sessions are still in the works, but Holland confirms the venue will be the Manchester-Coffee County Conference Center in Manchester, Tenn. He encourages everyone with an interest in value-added beef enterprises to reserve the dates for this exciting new educational opportunity.

“Those with services or products needed by direct beef marketers will also be interested in attending,” Holland said.  He noted that the conference will also be an excellent networking opportunity for the industry’s service providers.

To ensure a high-quality experience for all involved, space is limited. An early-bird registration fee has been set of $40 per person or $70 for two to encourage reservations prior to March 3, 2014. If space remains available, late registration prior to March 12 will be $50 per person and on-site registration is set at $100 per person.

The 2014 Tennessee Value-Added Beef Conference is a project of UT Extension, the Center for Profitable Agriculture, the Tennessee Beef Industry Council, the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association and the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation.
