SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – Rob Ellis has been named as the interim Center Director for the University of Tennessee's Highland Rim AgResearch and Education Center in Springfield. Ellis is currently the Center Director for the AgResearch and Education Center at Greeneville, Tennessee. He will continue in his current role and provide leadership to both centers. Ellis began the interim position on May 1.
“Rob has done an outstanding job at the Greeneville Center, and we are sure that he will provide excellent leadership during this interim period at the Highland Rim Center,” says Dean Bill Brown, UT AgResearch.
The expanded responsibilities are bringing Ellis back to his roots. A native of Robertson County, he is a 1988 graduate of Springfield High School. Ellis completed his B.S. degree at the University of Tennessee at Martin in Ag Science and his M.S. degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in Plant Sciences. Ellis spent 11 years as a Research Associate at the Highland Rim AgResearch Center, and was named Center Director of the AgResearch Center at Greeneville in 2004. On a personal note, Ellis is married (Marla) and the father of four children.
“It is a privilege to serve as interim Director at the Highland Rim Center. I'm looking forward to working here during the transition period as Barry assumes his new role in Knoxville,” states Ellis.
Ellis replaces Barry Sims, who took on the role of Associate Director of UT AgResearch on May 1. Sims served as Center Director at Highland Rim for the past 18 years.
