Learn How to Reach Customers Through Popular Social Media Outlet

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Facebook can serve as a valuable marketing tool, but some farmers directly marketing products to consumers have not yet tapped its potential.
 
In November and December a workshop taught by experts from University of Tennessee Extension can help change that. “These hands-on workshops will introduce value-added agriculture entrepreneurs, agritourism operators and direct farm marketers to marketing using Facebook,” says Megan Bruch Leffew, marketing specialist with UT Extension’s Center for Profitable Agriculture. “Participants will set up a business page, if they do not already have one, and learn basic fundamentals to effective marketing using this social media platform.” 
 
Taught by Leffew and area information technology specialist, David Yates, the workshops will be held in locations in each of the state’s regions:
• November 14 in Kingsport
• November 15 in Knoxville
• November 28 in Jackson
• November 29 in Nashville
• December 5 in McMinnville 

 
Each workshop will present the same material, so there is no need to register to attend multiple locations.

Participants can bring their own laptop or tablet or use a tablet provided by the instructors. Because of the hands-on nature of the workshop, space is limited.

Check-in and networking will begin at 9 a.m. local time. Sessions will begin at 9:30 and end by 4 p.m. The location of each workshop will be emailed to registered participants.

Pre-registration and pre-payment are required five business days prior to each workshop. There is a registration fee of $20, and lunch will be provided. Interested producers can register online now at
