We'll be hosting local craft vendors and holding three unique workshops focusing on rosemary. Now is the time to harvest your rosemary and we'll show you how to use it! Are you looking for planting and landscaping advice? Garden staff and Master Gardeners will be on hand to help customers with plant suggestions and expert gardening tips.
The public sale will be held from 9am - 2pm on Saturday, September 21 at the UT Gardens in Knoxville. Garden members can shop the preview sale on Friday, September 20 from 4 - 7pm. Memberships may be purchased or renewed during the preview sale or the public sale. In addition to having an early shopping opportunity, garden members receive 10% off their plant sale purchases during the preview or the public sale.
Plant Sale Inventory List - this is a partial list of the plants that we expect to have available for purchase at the plant sale. It is subject to change and will be updated periodically as we get new information.
HOMEMADE ROSEMARY SALVE—9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Join UT Plant Sciences student Wendy Adams for an informative session on salve making. Wendy makes homemade plantain salve on a regular basis to soothe skin irritations like bug bites and minor burns. She will demonstrate the steps required to make your own salve at home. Participants will receive a small jar of finished rosemary salve to take home.
Instructor: Wendy Adams
Wendy is a UT Plant Science student finishing her bachelor’s degree in Public Horticulture. She has had a passion for plants since she was young and has made medicinal salves from various plants for several years. She currently works for the UT Gardens in their summer camp programs.

Though rosemary is best known for it’s culinary use, it is also an effective ingredient for skin care, hair care, soap and more.  Learn how to integrate this natural healing element into your daily beauty regime.

Kathy is the owner of Erin’s Meadow Herb Farm as well as the current president of FARM which operate 4 markets a week in the Knoxville/ Oak Ridge area, including The Oak Ridge Farmers Market. She has been providing herbal education in the Tennessee area for over 20 years and regularly appears on WBIR-TV.

ROSEMARY ON THE GRILL—12:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.  Nothing elevates a meal like fresh herbs. Learn how to capture the delicious flavors of rosemary while grilling your veggies and meats to perfection in this cooking demonstration workshop.   Terri will guide students on the preparation of multiple rosemary recipes followed by samples and lively conversation. On the menu: 5 herbed grilled chicken, grilled summer veggies with rosemary and blue cheese, rosemary and parmesan popcorn and rosemary lemonade.
Instructor: Terri Geiser
Terri is a culinary enthusiast, caterer and cooking instructor. While staying in South Africa she learned about different foods, herbs, spices and cooking methods. She has been teaching cooking classes for over 20 years for the Glass Bazaar and previously for William Sonoma.
