Wings of Wonder: A Butterfly Exhibit - Art Auction scheduled for Sunday, September 8 at 3pm (with live preview at 2pm)
2019 Event - pieces are no longer on exhibit and are no longer available for purchase.
The silhouettes created for the 2019 summer “Wings of Wonder: A Butterfly Exhibit,” on display at the UT Gardens, Knoxville, will be auctioned on Sunday, September 8. The auction is the last phase of an art project designed to promote community participation and artist collaboration as well awareness and support for the UT Gardens.
25 local amateur and professional artists creatively interpreted this year’s butterfly theme by painting or embellishing large-scale plywood butterfly silhouettes. The works were installed throughout the UT Gardens and have been on display for the last several months. Now these beautiful, one-of-a-kind butterfly silhouettes will be sold to the public at a live auction.
The event starts with a preview of the works at 2 p.m. and the auction begins at 3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Information about the individual pieces that were created for the exhibit can be found here.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit the UT Gardens.
