dogwood bloom silhouettes
The iconic dogwood bloom will be the silhouette for the 2020 Art in the Garden project. For the first time the silhouette will be available in two sizes.
We are excited to announce the 2020 Art in the Garden project theme will be the iconic dogwood bloom. Dazzling Dogwoods: A Garden Art Exhibit will build on the success of previous exhibits - 2018's Joyful Flight: A Hummingbird Exhibit and 2019's Wings of Wonder: A Butterfly Exhibit. Designed to promote community participation and artist collaboration with the UT Gardens, Knoxville, this fun and whimsical project will serve to raise awareness and support for the UT Gardens. Local artists are asked to decorate and/or embellish, then donate, pre-fabricated dogwood blossom silhouettes which will be displayed in the gardens during the summer for all to enjoy. Pieces will then be auctioned in September 2020 with all proceeds benefiting the UT Gardens.

Amateur or professional artists are invited to artistically interpret this year's theme. Each artist will be provided a primed 1/2" plywood dogwood silhouette as a canvas. There will be two sizes available this year: small ~21x21" and large ~36x36". Once artists have completed their pieces, they will return them to UTG where they will be installed throughout the Gardens. An opening reception will be held on Friday, June 5 for artists and the public as part of Knoxville's First Friday celebration.

For those wishing to participate in the 2020 Art in the Gardens project, an on-line registration form and artist guidelines are available at. Entry fees are: small - $20, large - $30, or a pair (one of each size) - $45. Once registered, the artist will be contacted to arrange pickup of the form and payment. Registration is open now and will continue until all silhouettes are sold. Form pick up will be available M-F beginning March 2. Deadline for completed works will be May 4.
